Call for Teaching Artists

What Cheer Writers Club is seeking four instructors for our Craft Curiosities series! Are you a working writer, illustrator or podcaster passionate about sharing the perils and virtues of a specific craft tool or technique? Submit a proposal by Nov 12, 2021 to teach a two-hour craft intensive* in early 2022.

Each proposed session should dive into the nuts and bolts of a craft “curiosity” in a workshop devoted to cultivating this specific aspect of craft. This is your chance to share your quirky enthusiasms and professional insights with fellow creatives! Compensation: $200/two-hour session, plus free admission to the Spring 2022 Craft Curiosities series.
What Cheer Writers Club is committed to cultivating an environment that values and reflects the lived experiences, voices and literary traditions of our community. We are looking for enthusiastic artists with a passion for craft and the ability to share their expertise with vision and skill. B/I/POC creatives, multilingual instructors and artists from diverse backgrounds across many genres are encouraged to apply. Advanced degrees (MFAs, MAs), a publication record and/or extensive teaching experience are not required.

Teaching artists will be selected based on alignment with series and diversity of term offerings,  current community needs, relevant experience and the clarity and strength of the proposal (review rubric here). If you have ideas for classes that fall outside the Club’s current focus, Members may always use the Club’s Zoom (unlimited minutes) for class offerings (and we’ll help promote!).

*While we hope to hold these sessions in-person in our Classroom in downtown Providence Feb-May 2022, we will host them online for health safety if needed.
