Meet Our Founding Members:
In the Spring of 2018, a group of Providence-area friends came together to found What Cheer Writers Club.
Our goal is to meet others like ourselves and create a mutually supportive community for writers, journalists, indie publishers, illustrators/graphic novelists and podcasters here in Rhode Island. Plus, being able to get out of our home offices and coffee shops and into a coworking facility designed for the needs off writers and podcasters is a help. We are:
Anne Holland, Founder
Anne's a long-time journalist and indie publisher of niche news services, including the award-winning MJBizDaily. She's also written or co-written roughly two dozen business books, guested on podcasts and webcasts, and served as a keynote speaker at publishing industry conferences.
Michael Persson, Board Member
Currently the Sr Director of Creative Content at Boston College, Michael's past editorial credits include Newport Life Magazine, Provincetown Magazine, Boston Magazine and the Times of London Saturday Magazine.
Cindy Holt, Board Member
Inspired by her day job as a professional beekeeper, Cindy is the co-founder of print zine Bee Cult, the Instagram feed @littlerhodybeekeeping as well as being a self-published essayist and writer's-group-published short story writer.
Genesis Barrera, Founding Member
Genesis publishes a feminist history feed in both English and Spanish @lamagamexicana on Instagram.
