What Fear! A Virtual Masquerade
You’re invited to What Fear! A Virtual Masquerade, a fundraising event for What Cheer Writers Club on Friday, October 30 at 7pm.
Prepare for an evening of literary enchantment, with party tricks from Bitter Tea Tarot, Evelyn Archer and the "Book Psychics" at Twenty Stories, and live performances by local thriller writers, Stranger Stories, The Adventures of Elizabeth Crowne podcast and more!
Admission is free for Club Members and LitRI Patreon subscribers, and otherwise by a sliding-scale donation. As the evening’s mysteries unfold, in-the-moment donations to the “Club Cauldron” will unlock party games, tarot readings, poems-on-demand and other amusements as we celebrate two years of serving a thriving literary arts community in Rhode Island. All funds raised through tickets and live event donations will go toward Club programming.
What to wear: A mask (no not that kind—this is a virtual event!) or costume. Dressing up like your favorite author or literary characters encouraged! Best costume wins a prize.

The Evening’s Program
Inspired by literary masquerades from Poe to Morgenstern, What Cheer Writers Club’s virtual masquerade will offer partygoers seven colored chambers of spirited games and activities (“tricks”) to explore through individual donations.
Meanwhile, each donation goes into the Club Cauldron. As the pot bubbles and boils, an eerie evening of performances from local authors and actors (“treats”) will be released for the entire party to enjoy.
RSVP to receive the full program.
Your donation is in support of:
-
Professional development workshops to empower Rhode Island content creators at a time when many are facing financial distress.
-
Community building programs such as virtual cocktail chats, write-ins and showcases to connect local creatives and encourage collaboration at a time of increasing isolation.
-
Upgrades to Club website and software to bolster virtual programming and engagement during the health crisis and beyond.
